Matthew Southworth is a comic artist and writer who has illustrated projects such as Stumptown, a modern noir series written by Greg Rucka; Spider-Girl, Spider-Man, X-Men and Thunderbolts, all published by Marvel Comics; X-Files, published by IDW; and several stories for Dark Horse Comics, all of which he also wrote.

Southworth has also illustrated projects for Entertainment Weekly, The Stranger, Microsoft, and IFC.

After working at the celebrated Actors Theatre of Louisville, Southworth attended graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University and obtained a degree in playwriting and directing. He went on to work at Cruise/Wagner Productions at Paramount Pictures while writing and directing an independent feature film entitled Big Wide Empty.
